AFCI technology is a new class of protective device that provides protection against dangerous arcing faults. AFCI circuits distinguish normal transients in an electrical system while recognising the electrical characteristics that are unique to dangerous arcing conditions, de-energising the affected circuit when the fault is detected.Why is Arc-Fault Technology Needed?
Arc-faults can be caused by worn, damaged or breached electrical insulation on wire and cable, misapplied appliances or equipment cords, or loose electrical connections. These conditions have been found to occur in commercial, residential, and aircraft applications.Based on proprietary algorithms, Sensata are developing a family of arc-fault protection products to serve the needs of our customers by offering additional functionality to enhance the performance of their present products or as a stand-alone product to meet end-application needs.
