.: X-Ident and the Technology at the World Cup 2006 :.

While all Australians are tracking the Socceroos every move, X-Ident's RFID technology is tracking the crowds.

There has been approximately 4.8 million RFID tagged tickets distributed for the Fifa World Cup, currently on in Germany. RFID label manufacturer X-Ident Technology says it delivered the RFID tagged tickets for the event on time.

The technology was selected for inclusion in every ticket as part of a bid to help prevent counterfeiting and prevent misuse of tickets during the international soccer tournament. Fifa has the capability to check personal ID information against details stored on the Semiconductor chip on each ticket - including name, address, date of birth, nationality and ID card or passport number.

An inbuilt RFID transponder allows individual tickets to be blocked automatically by readers integrated into all turnstiles - lost or stolen tickets can be cancelled and replaced at short notice with new, authorised tickets.
