Whether your business needs to identify and manage raw materials, manufactured goods, or products in transit, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) creates real time information links that speed production, improve quality and streamline delivery. Choose from a large selection of different transponders and reader systems for your specific application.

We can assist in streamlining warehouse distribution, tracking material movement in and out of the warehouse, protecting valuable products during distribution, food manufacturing automation and shipping container management.

The latest RFID technology aimed at revolutionizing Supply Chain RFID systems is UHF Electronic Product Code (EPC) Generation 2 technology.

Electro-Com's RFID portfolio covers UHF hardware including UHF tags (including straps, inlays and ready-to-go labels) readers and antennas to suit all supply chain RFID applications. UHF tag technologies available at Electro-Com are from Texas Instruments TI-RFID™ and X-ident™.

Texas Instruments TI-RFid™ has developed UHF RFID tags for supply chain and logistics applications that meet the EPC Gen2 standards developed and ratified by EPCglobal.

EPC UHF RFID technology adds the capabilities to change and update the information on each tag as it proceeds through various points in the supply chain which provides new levels of up-to-date information for better decision making.

X-ident™ offer Smart-Label UHF Paper and Film labels that are built for universal use. X-Ident™ have smart labels for both plastic and cardboard applications. Film labels are ideal for harsh environments such as reusable containers. Paper labels are ideal for general applications e.g., cardboard packaging.

X-ident™ currently offer EPC Generation 1, Class 0 and Class 1 tags and soon to be released new Gen2 compliant tags.

EPCglobal Gen2 Standards
What is EPCglobal?
EPCglobal, a joint venture between EAN International and the Uniform Code Council, Inc., is the RFID industry's partner for driving the global, multi-industry adoption and implementation of the EPC Network. The neutral, consensus-based, not-for-profit standards organization aims to make organizations more effective by enabling true visibility of information about items in the supply chain by developing and managing standards for the EPC Network."

What is EPC Gen 2 UHF?
EPCglobal who is chartered to drive standards for RFID technology approved the EPCglobal UHF Generation 2 specification in December 2004. This decision marks a milestone for EPCglobal who chaired the standard based on consensus from more than 60 technology companies and government agencies worldwide. The UHF Gen2 standard will provide the platform on which future products for passive RFID technology are built.

The Gen2 specification is seen as the most significant event in EPCglobal's history. It is believed that it opens the door for a large number of manufacturers to make Gen2 products quickly. It allows for global interoperability [of EPC systems] and creates a single converged standard. End users won't have to worry about using equipment specified for Class 0, Class 1, Class 2, ISO 18000-6A or 18000-6B UHF standards.
