A breakthrough for equipment tracking in Hospitals.
Equipment tracking in hospitals has traditionally involved very expensive infrastructure to establish an effective real-time location system (RTLS). Electro-com is very pleased to announce that we are now the distributors of Spotto, a new and innovative Australian-developed asset tracking system. A system that can be installed, and operated, at a fraction of the cost of traditional RTLS systems.
This system, using locally developed software and hardware, is already delivering excellent operational outcomes at Gosford and Wyong hospitals in NSW, and across the Central Coast Local Health District. The user testimonials have been so positive that they’ve extended coverage to almost 2000 pieces of equipment being tracked across hundreds of zones.
The prevalent issues in hospitals, associated with not being able to locate equipment when needed, are well known and include:
- Wasted staff time – searching.
- Patient wellbeing compromised – when equipment can’t be found rapidly.
- Over capitalization on valuable assets – to increase chances of finding equipment when needed.
However, avoiding the equipment location problem has been expensive and difficult to implement – but no longer! This new solution, utilising the excellent locally developed software from the Spotto team, together with the compact readers, from IoT X3, is very simple – and extremely low cost!
Spotto is a proximity system that uses radio technology in asset readers to see signals sent by tags placed on each asset. These tags can be inexpensive stick-on labels or beacons – depending on the range required – which can be up to 20 metres. A single reader looks after a zone, constantly reporting the closest asset at any time – or what asset passed by and when.
Finding your assets is as simple as a Google-style search on your mobile or PC. For a tiny investment, in both money and time, everyday work of healthcare staff can be transformed while improving patient outcomes.
This system is working successfully now in a number of hospitals in NSW and Electro-com is pleased to be a distributor of this exciting, Australian-based, breakthrough service. A service that enables the tracking of anything in real-time using low-cost, high performance tags and readers that anyone can implement – no experts required!
